What is print graphic design and what does it include?

Graphic design is a design process that combines text and graphics in a way that is intended to communicate a specific message. Using space, balance, hierarchy, lines and shape, color, typography, texture and branding, graphic designers design company logos, printed materials like brochures, posters, signs, greeting cards, postcards, business cards, billboards and ads.

What can a graphic designer do that I can’t do?

Graphic designers do more than just make things pretty. They have a skill set that is not only a way to express creative concepts but use learned design principles that are vital to understand to successfully present and transmit the required messages and values to evoke a feeling in the viewer.

As a visual communicator, designers leverage these skills and
design elements to create something that can be used to several levels. Graphic designers also are also able to understand the more technical aspects of design required to create digital assets for a client and the way something should be created to print properly with a print vendor or save on waste during production.

How can I work with a graphic designer and stay on budget?

You will want to be prepared to communicate clearly and often about what you want from us me as your graphic designer. The more specific you can be when you request your design, the more likely the final product will reflect your vision. Communicating clearly and minimizing revisions will hold down your expenses. I will include one or two rounds of changes within the project price.

How long will it take to get my design?

Print designs have different turnarounds and is affected by a number of factors, such as the complexity of the design and how many revisions requested by clients. Printing/Productions timelines are affected by the finishing required: binding & cutting.

Design and Approval:
Expect 5-10 business days for the initial design, revisions, and final approval of the design.

Print Production:

After approval, another 5-10 business days can be expected for the actual printing process, including tasks like finishing (cutting, binding, etc.) for in-studio production. Timeline for outside vendor printing depends on their timetable.
